I'm starting to play D&D 4E and I was hoping for some advice on where to find help in creating a first character.

Hi, welcome to the site! Unfortunately, this is not really how questions work here: we prefer focused questions that can be answered authoritatively and concisely. This is just too open-ended for the site. We're happy to help with any questions that come up while you read the rules, but this is not a discussion forum. Edited the title (after Zachiel's suggested edit) to make it a potentially on-topic question. It still might be a duplicate of another question though—I'm unfamiliar enough with the breadth of the 4e tag to say for certain. Can someone weigh in? Even with the edit, I still think it's too broad.. Have you played any RPG before and want pointers for DND 4e? Has your DM specified something you're unfamiliar with and you're just looking for general advice? Or are you new to RPG altogether? Do you own the Player's manual or have access to it? Anyway, it would be a lot more useful to know some more background or if you could narrow what you're looking for. – Roflo Dec 2 '12 at 22:17
