I am in the middle of helping a player create a Duskblade. I have been using a small variant on the Spell Point system found in Unearthed Arcana (the point amounts are the same, though). I was wondering how different non-SRD classes fit into this system, and specifically the Duskblade.

There are no official guidelines for this. Further, the SRD classes are not converted consistently themselves, making logical extrapolation highly difficult. For the classic example, a Vancian Sorcerer ends up having 50% more spells per day than a Wizard, while the Spell Point Sorcerer ends up having about 7% more spell points per day. The values are, as far as I have been able to tell, rather arbitrarily determined. I would suggest giving them "many" spell points, probably more than even the Sorcerer. One of the Duskblade's strengths is the massive number of spells per day the class gets, I suggest retaining that advantage throughout the conversion, even if the class doesn't have many high level spell slots inflating the pool. |
