I'm trying to amass a list of D&D books and or resources to use in my DM-ing, like D&D Maps, 83 free D&D adventures, etc. The books can be about a particular Realm or about generic adventures in general.

What are some freely available D&D books and or Resources on the Internet?

This question can only be a never-ending list and it tempts me to close it - I could CW it, but that tends to be a cop-out for closable. There are a couple of free D&D 4E adventures published by Wizards at http://www.wizards.com/dnd/TryDnD.aspx . One of those, Keep on the Shadowfell, is a full adventure for characters starting at level 1 and leveling up to level 4. That page also includes a document with quick start rules.

I have been collecting a number of link sites that provide free gaming content over the last 2.5 years. Here are some of the best free content sites I have found. Some of the adventures would need to be adapted for edition and others for campaign. In addition a few them have added resources like maps, plot hooks and NPCs too.

Play Generated Map and Document Archive (Plagmada) contains all sorts of maps and notes from actual DMs and GMs.

A great link and interesting to peruse, but as both a DM and a player I cannot see any actual use for it. From a DM standpoint, maybe using some of the pre-generated maps, but that's about as far as I could justify. Still interesting to look at different takes on dungeon delving, though. – GPierce Jun 8 '11 at 17:29
