@Pulsehead I have done this in several occations, and some of my fellow players are absolutely brilliant in making this kinds of improvisations. Playing out a social fumble can be truly entertaining. I can recommend it ;)

+1 In my opinion this is the only way to do it. The players all need to feel as a part of the story. Splitting up might be fun in some occasions, but in general, everyone should be contributing towards the same goal. If you go solo on one or the other, eventually someone is going to feel that they are left out.

+1 This is exactly how I handle it in every game i run. Play it out. I have found that everybody (yes even munchkins) love to have a go at a verbal fight also, and take great joy in developing their characters along with their skills. Use the dice to tip the scale, or, if you are confident on your players objectivity, let him roll and play it out according to the roll.
