comment What would you roll for “attacking” an enemy with Lay On Hands?
@thelr that seems unlikely, attacks of opportunity are basically only for moving out of reach in 5e

@jperkins again, touch is only a signifier of range it has no meaning apart from that.

@tommy I'd be more amenable to that kind of ruling if the ability included a "willing creature" qualifier.

@jperkins I've updated my answer now that I've got the actual text in my answer. This is not an ability with an attack, it literally just happens. If the DM decides that you have to make an attack, then they'd need to specify whether there is a save or an attack, if it's a save, it should be vs hte spell save DC, if it's an attack, it should be a melee spell attack (yes, it's not a spell, it's just behaving like one here)

@jperkins ignore the ability to touch. That's the range, it tells you nothing about what dice to roll. What the ability tells you to do is the important part.

@jperkins to be clear it's not an unarmed attack. It's a Spell attack, you get your spell ability and prof bonus added. The melee specifier is so that you don't have disadvantage on the attack (See the quote I just added)

comment Why are the 5e releases spaced so far apart?
I've included the one quote I could find, I feel like he's commented on this elsewhere as well, but couldn't quickly find anything else.

They may publish something additional later. Its a very young system

Actually, better yet, both of the things you mention have PC rules in the Monster Manual.

Have you read the section in the DMG on creating your own custom race?

comment How to make combat more tactical?
Hi and welcome! To be clear, you're a player in this situation? This is typically a DM decision, it might be best to have a conversation with your DM rather than ask here in this particular case. Also, in the future, if you could add a tag mentioning which system you're playing that's our preferred way of conveying that information. Thanks, welcome! And have a look at the tour when you have a moment.

comment Warlock Eldritch master good for nothing?
@CorvenDallas I'd ask your DM to allow this power to be instant out of combat then. It's not a combat power (10 rounds is a long time to sit idle), but with your short rest variant, making it much quicker is legit.

comment Re-roll a failed exploration roll?
@Ryan welcome to the hobby! many of us (including myself) are still learning (don't ever stop). This kind of thing is really easy to talk about, but it's much harder in the implementation. It's really easy to default to "roll the dice" and have no clue what's going to happen if they fail (I fall into this). I'll be honest, that post sounds like I have the hang of it, I don't. I still find myself reaching when I ask for a check without a clear failure mode in mind.

comment Re-roll a failed exploration roll?
@dot_Sp0T it's certainly a possibility depending on the roll called for. In the example case I'm not sure it's called for, but if you're attempting something where there is the potential for harm, it's a possibility

comment What happens when you run out of movement while jumping?
They are still limited by their own speed, even though their maximum jump distance is increased (note it does not give them a jump speed, that would be different). The dash action can be used to extend the jump to your maximum distance.

Please make sure to specify system in the tags as well as in the body (if necessary). I've added it as a tag for you.

comment Can a free action occur within an immediate interrupt?
@DCShannon The question becomes what does the Barbarian's Winter Phoenix rage interrupt? My assumption in this answer is that it interrupts dropping to 0 HP. That's not the only thing it could interrupt though. Though if it interrupts the damage source, it could still mean the barbarian drops (And is just a lower amount of negative HP), if that's the case, then the free action would trigger. It's not clear what is interrupted.

How much of the DMG's custom magic item section have you read?
