comment Does natural armor stack with unarmored defense?
@ColinD it's sort of better if we have multiple questions handling the specifics. Though one omnibus question isn't entirely bad. blog.stackoverflow.com/2010/11/… recently read this thanks to someone here and it got me thinking a bit

@user3735278 true, Ace's answer does a better job of tackling the intricacies here, but ultimately, the argument comes out the same. having natural armor counts as "wearing armor" for the purposes of this calculation.

@ColinD this is a different thing. mage armor <> natural armor.

@Eric I added your tweet as an answer, if you want to get the reps/credit for it, feel free to add it and I'll delete mine, just pop a comment under my post when you have.

comment Can someone explain how HP's stack with various spells?
@Miniman yeah, just did a bit more research on that. That seems to be the intent. I find it a bit odd, but whatevs. Updated answer

comment What can someone do while forced to doff armor from the heat metal spell
@AceCalhoon if you look at it, it's actually asking the same thing a different way. The assumptions are a bit different, but it's dealing with the same clause of the spell.

the line is "if it can" I feel like the question linked in the dupe tackles that pretty well. there's no ability to just drop a suit of armor, and that's clear in the dupe question.

comment Twin hand crossbow Fighter: is this build valid?
I have a couple of quibbles here (but not really enough for a full answer). 1 is talking about damage in terms of the absolute numbers and not those numbers factored against average hit chances. If you don't hit you do 0 damage. The second is that it takes a pretty big stretch for -5/+10 to actually be worth it (avg AC for CR 5 is 14). You might be close here, but you need to factor whether it's worth burning resources on that and not on other things (opportunity cost).

comment Can someone immediately pick up their weapon after being Disarmed?
@mooing Yes reach is defined by creature size

comment Can disengage be used for offence?
@Karl my point here is that you've got 2 bonus actions attributed to the rogue. They can def disengage, move, attack, and move more with disengage. They just can't move over their speed that turn. (disengage includes no movement on it's own)

comment Can someone immediately pick up their weapon after being Disarmed?
@Jason_c_o no. by default AoO are only if you move away w/o disengaging (there are a few other things that can trigger them, but they are all class/feat dependent)

you can reach someone else's space, I'd have to see a rule that prohibited it. Like I said, you might want to make it an action just to model that it's slightly harder, but interacting with an object that's in an adjacent space is completely legit

I find in my campaigns the guys in the armor are friendlies more often than they're foes :)

How often do you encounter enemies in metal armor? My experience so far says not very often

What game situation are you trying to solve with this question?

comment What happens to a familiar if the wizard is unconcious?
@RobertF depending on the type of familiar, it's a possibility, You'd have to check the spell to see how much leeway they have re: autonomous action.

comment How am I supposed to award magic items so that PCs aren't over/under-powered?
@Mouhgouda and that's extra important in 4e which has tight wealth by level standards that are dependent on your PCs using what they're given.

comment How am I supposed to award magic items so that PCs aren't over/under-powered?
This also really doesn't fit with 4e's typical magic item ethos which means it should be added to a game with incredibly great caution (since 4e's math is rather dependent on having those items available and working)

comment How can PCs create potions?
@Dan I've expanded my answer to be authoritative on the other question. There is no current ruling for potions apart from the basic crafting rules. Going to dupe this to that one.

comment How does one craft Potions of Healing?
@Miniman updated for DMG release. Long story short: don't brew healing potions using the magic item crafting rules...
