comment What's the Fastest Way to Reload an Off-Hand Hand Crossbow
@doppelgreener it means you can reload it with the hand you're holding it with. It's the feat to make the scenario described in the question mechanically possible (it's intended for either dual wielding hand crossbows or for sword and x-bow scenarios)

comment Does Repulsion Armor Stop Movement?
@Frezak If you're DMing make sure your monsters are charging as often as your players are. You'll start to like them :)

comment Does Repulsion Armor Stop Movement?
Would be helpful to quote the relevant section of Immediate Reaction that indicates it happens when the trigger is complete, not necessarily the action

@András incorrect, opportunity attacks interrupt. There may be a logic flaw here, but that's not a good comp.

comment Pros & Cons: Sorcerer & Cleric cross-class
@Xerosigma yeah, MCing is intentionally costly for most classes, they really want you to think, and it seems the really want you to take at least 4 levels (the second level dip costs you an ability score increase, which you can't recover until L4).

comment Pros & Cons: Sorcerer & Cleric cross-class
Just a heads up, generally with optimization questions, we're usually looking for some kind of criteria by which to judge a question (what are you trying to do with this character). In this case I think it's fairly easy to define pros and cons for the scenarios you set up. But keep that in mind if you want to ask further char-op style quesitons

comment Does the DM have to give me magical weapons?
The concern (at least in my view) isn't so much the accuracy or damage, but the fact that numerous high level creatures resist or are immune to non-magic'd weapon damage. The idea that you simply "wouldn't use" the bulk of high level monsters seems...strange

comment Can you Wield an Off-Hand Weapon with a Spiked Guantlet
note that the even the hand crossbow does require 2 hands to load, so that can be an issue (though it can be removed with a feat)

I'm not finding a rules cite for the hand having to be free to attack with the spiked gauntlet, could you point to where you're getting that? Thanks!

comment How many Ability Dependencies is too many? (What is MAD?)
@MatthieuM. Generally prof is only added to skills, but there are other cases where it can be applied (str check with a tool for instance), and some sub classes get things like half their prof bonus to all str/dex checks as a feature.

comment What rules in the Player's Handbook are new/different from the Basic Rules?
@MagRoader in this case the reverse is probably a better question. The PHB went to the printer before Basic was released.

comment Lore about Gibbeth
@bolgfred yeah, the bulk of the Gibbeth info so far is in that adventure from Dragon 207 if you can get ahold of that. MM2 only has a paragraph or two that won't tell you more than the dragon adventure I linked. I'll check MotP when I get home but I don't anticipate anything further there.

comment How does one craft Potions of Healing?
@GregoryAvery-Weir I added the references to the sections I'm talking about. It seems pretty clear from those (and also the treasure awarding they do in the starter adventure) that potions of healing are supposed to be treated like mundane items.

comment How many Ability Dependencies is too many? (What is MAD?)
@MatthieuM. so far the only equipment we've seen dealing with stats sets them to 19. So it actually aids MAD builds rather than harms them. Because of the tight binding of accuracy in this sytem, I don't anticipate magic items that raise stats much beyond 20, maybe 22 or 24 for super rare stuff. But ability score advancement is not as crucial a part of 5e like it is other editions.

comment How many Ability Dependencies is too many? (What is MAD?)
@MatthieuM. we've not seen anything that lets you surpass 20 in the final game yet (doesn't mean it won't be there, magic items are in the DMG). But I'm not sure what you're getting at re: equipment selection. the only equipment that is tied to stats right now is armor.

yeah, for whatever reason it's not only not in the starter, it's not listed on the character sheets either :(

comment How can I handle conflicts between my disdainful druid and characters who might provoke them?
I'm trying to figure out if you're playing out personal conflicts via your characters or are communicating out of character to try to better formulate in character solutions.
