Which edition? There are at least 2 games now being identified as "Basic D&D" are you talking about 5e? Or the classic version?

Quick question, what are your starting stats?

Yes, it would be, and you don't want to spend a feat on a Fullblade at L1 anyways.

Could you talk a little about the impact of this kind of thing on the universe fiction and mechanics of the game? It sounds like a good idea, but is lacking in details

Changed from what? 4e I assume?

comment How can a PC change their class in middle of an Adventure?
@Bomberclaw yeah, there are hints in Basic that MC will require specific stats, so the playtest may provide a baseline for judging, but until we actually get the PHB in hand, nothing is set in stone.

comment What is the minimally optimum wizard spell selection as of D&D 5th's launch?
Optimized for what though? You get pretty much all of the spells except 14 so it might be better if you asked which spells to avoid. Though tbh building my wizard I didn't see many spells that were clear avoids. In my experience the L3 list got the short end of the stick though.

comment Longtooth Shifting as a daily power
@Shadowxvii most races have pretty nice racial abilities that they can use every encounter, this one isn't out of bounds with the rest of them. The duration is more sustained, but the bonus is small. this probably gets most combats about 6HP and 3-4 damage...that's not a lot

comment How can I associate Hit Dice with healing?
Perhaps thinking of them as "hit point" dice would help?

@DavidL That seems right

comment Does Mage Armor stack with Shield?
@DampeS8N that is my expectation as well. Bonuses that are rare enough that they should stack.

comment Do you have to cast Shield prior to your opponent's attack roll?
@DampeS8N you are (1) hit by an attack or (2) targeted by the magic missile spell...could be clearer, but it's OK grammatically (I think?)

comment Monk ki-focus mechanics
@pppddd yes, enhancement is only ever added once. So +1 or 2+ not both. Again, the basic rule is "same typed bonuses don't stack."

comment What are the stand-out features of D&D 5e?
@Simanos yep, at least in basic, proficiency is universal. +2 at L1 to +6 at L20.

comment How to speed up 4e combat
how would out of turn actions work (plenty of times free, immediate and opportunity actions come up on ally turns), how do you make up for the fact that this alters the game balance (dex becomes less meaningful, init feats are worthless etc).

Is that rounds or turns? that's a lot of rounds. Most combats go 5-6 with mid level optimized characters. You should stop by chat and we can talk about this

comment What are the stand-out features of D&D 5e?
@Simanos that's only based on proficiency. However, the entire game seems to be meant to be played in the space of target DCs 5-30. We'll know a lot more about what this means when we get the full list of monsters (or really even the list of basic D&D monsters), and when more of us get the starter in hand on Tuesday. Most characters are probably going to start with 16 in their main stat and take at least 2 ability increases there, so they'll pick up another 10%, but that's probably around L8.

comment What major changes will 5e bring in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting?
Wonder if the recent D&D novel publications could shed any light on this. Largely though it's too early to tell. Considering that the Sundering seems to be a major event, I'm guessing rather profound story changes are afoot. What those may be I don't have the knowledge to speculate
