I'm working on Fate Looms, a tabletop simulator specifically for Fate.

Useful things:

  • Making the Tough Decisions: An author talks about how to work in harmony with your group as a player, based on things that should in hindsight have seemed obvious. Worth reading word for word. It's good enough it's the single piece of mandatory reading at my game table.

I have a free reroll.

staple post:

As this is a [tag:game-recommendation] question, please adhere to both the [FAQ] and the rules for subjective questions as outlined in [Good Subjective, Bad Subjective](http://blog.stackoverflow.com/2010/09/good-subjective-bad-subjective/) and on [our Meta](http://meta.rpg.stackexchange.com/a/1071/1204). In particular, all responses should be based on actual experience and contain references and examples whenever possible.

Whilst a character generator is relevant to the general topic at hand, this answer - and the generator - don't appear to be answering the request for guidance in how to create a character, and how to use what's available. Answers are expected to directly respond to the question, so do you have guidance you can offer on how to create a character?

Do you need to be able to pass notes to only specific players, or is it OK if every note is available to everyone? Do you only need to share text for the purposes of the hand-outs here, or do you need to be able to share other stuff too?

@Andrzej I suggest you open a question asking how to get a number of Arcana rerolls per encounter then!

If there's something specific you're trying to do with all these utility powers, it might be better to simply ask how you can do that thing, within the constraints you have placed on you (e.g. if you already have a character build you can't change). There may be a better way than obtaining a bunch of classes' utility powers.

comment Can a sniper be built in D&D 4e?
Also, can you elaborate on how this meets the requirement of being able to hide and remain (or re-enter) hidden after attacks?

I've tried to edit your answer to be clearer, but could you clarify that sentence about what elves get +2 to? "with an 18 dex elves get +2 first level +7 to attack with longbow" does not make much sense to me unfortunately.

comment A few questions about mounts
I'm removing my downvote on this answer and my harsh judgement of it from my meta answer. I think this answer has something useful - set the rules aside in this case - but it's doing so with statements that set off a 4e red flag, like ignore the numbers, just use common sense (and nothing but). If edited, similar stuff could be said whilst acknowledging the 4e rules - but that because <reasoning> this is a point it would be overly fiddly to use them or where they won't be all that useful. But I am sleepy and sleep deprived. Could someone who thinks they can edit this have an attempt?

@waxeagle "Remember, that if PCs take up specific tactics, then the monsters should too." BESW has a similar ethos he's expressed which might be worth incorporating; it goes something like this: "Whichever way you can break the game, the NPCs can break ten times better. But they won't begin breaking it unless you do." Or, put differently, he lets his players show him where they'd like the line drawn.

Yeah, definitely take your time accepting an answer for this one. There isn't any pressure to accept an answer (especially not right away), and if you do it's not going to do you any good, just discourage new answers.

@Phil Previous similar questions being open is rarely an indicator new questions should stay open. Each should be judged on their own merits, and if anything it calls into question whether the older ones should remain open (our standards change over time). The first, though, is open because it is actually relevant to RPGs: it's asking about to-hit odds of a particular roll, and RPG experts can provide a better, different, or more specific answer compared to a mathematician. About the same is the case for #2. Not the case here.

@Discord Our rule of thumb on real-world topics (including math) lies in our What topics can I ask about here? help, right after the bullet points under the "This is not the right site for questions about" heading, and it doesn't really pass. There's nothing drawing from RPG.SE expertise here so it probably is more appropriate on a mathematics site. In fact, you'll probably get a better and more specific answer from a mathematician, who could tell you everything important you need to know about calculating this stuff.
