French programmer with a few years of Web Development experience using mostly AMP platforms (with a healthy dose of Javascript) and loving it. I've also experimented with Python, SQLite, ActionScript/Flash and Java.

An unrepentant lover of video games for many a year, I've fallen in love with tabletop RPGs when I was introduced to Feng Shui. I've since played various editions of D&D and WoD, Exalted 2e, Shadowrun 3, Warhammer(Fantasy and Dark Heresy), L5R, Anima and Fate. I love nothing more than taking a good look at elegant game mechanics (and playing with them of course). As a GM, my games of choice are Strands of Fate and Mutants & Masterminds.

comment How does Compelling your own Aspects work?
As you can see in the answers in your link, the GM doesn't pay anything either. The compel literally spawns an entirely new Fate Point. Players pay to compel because -in most cases- they do it so that the story advances to their advantage.

Let's be clear on what for free means here : by opposition with when another player wants to compel your aspects and has to pay a Fate point to do so, compelling your own aspects requires no payment on your part, as if the GM was doing the compelling. You still get a Fate point for your trouble.

comment What are the benefits of owning a physical book?
Pretty sure the transparency is a matter of adaptation. You grew up with books so they're natural to you. To one of our younger peers and the future generations, the tablet / e-reader will feel just as natural.

comment Is there an Aberration with a Negative Energy Breath Weapon at all in the lore?
Note : the (negative energy) after regeneration indicates that wound inflicted with negative energy don't regenerate (as with trolls and fire)

comment What happened to the Permanency spell?
It's an ancient truth. Long story short : Without Absolute, Complete knowledge of the entirety of the "universe" you can't say for certain something doesn't exist. Some universes are smaller than others, but it's still rare that you can positively say so. Darnit, explaining Science is hard when you're not doing it in your mother tongue.

comment What better not to use Fate Core for?
I agree up to "Fate lacks crunch". Fate can get just as crunchy as you want it to. Add in a few extras or subsystems for whatever exotic mechanic you want in your game (Mecha building, effect-based spellcasting...) and you'll see just how crunchy it can get.

comment What is available to mitigate the damage of physical blows?
The drowning option is narratively acceptable, especially if preceded by a long fall. Everyone knows that if you can't find the body, the character's bound to come back a few episodes later.
