Just like "I was just following orders" was not an excuse, "My religion claims I had to do it" is neither. If you behave as an offensive bigot, you are an offensive bigot. Petty excuses will not be tolerated. Ramen.

"I'm really not sure where your DM is pulling that from" from Doom, I guess? ;D

@Ruut it's not the most bizarre thing people believe, think about religion…

comment Should I scale the difficulty after the party recruits a boss?
@BrianS if it's an NPC that comes along with you, it's never a benefit, neither when he's there, nor when he walks away. When he's there it's just an annoying NPC which will steal your time and your fame and your xp, and will decrease the difficulty of the game. Better never have him along with you, and give you other benefits, then.

comment Should encounters be adjusted to a full-magic party?
Actually, you'd need this attitude even on MMORPGs! Any time I'd get some instance which auto-adjusts stuff based on the players who entered, I'd feel cheated.

+1 but, beware: "come up with new and interesting things on the fly" basically means cheating, and this will always be disappointing. You should never add stuff "in the current dungeon", you should add it "in the next one", implying that the world around you notices your behaviour and tweaks his defences accordingly.

Just removing the NPC like you suggest would be disappointing too, and doing the same again in future would be disappointing again… I agree with the cookie stuff, mind, but the final suggestion about what to do is quite bad IMHO. I'll try to carve a new answer if I manage to.

comment Where can I find the stats for a magic item that produces magically delicious spices?
Since Prestidigitation does a lot of things, and this item would be using only one single effect from those, I would also reduce the price by half. (ok, or what @DavidWilkins suggested)

comment Where can I find cyberpunk face-cards?
@SevenSidedDie they can be digital images all in the same style. I didn't think about a specific numbers, let's say 200 "but if they have a bigger database, all the better".

Noticing you now linked some, there are actually many more characters then I remembered, great!

(plus, you gave me the idea, I'll also have a look at the old Netrunner cards, which I have plenty, and there might be something interesting…)

+1, but I'll still wait a bit for two reasons: 1. having all the game-related text is not great, 2. likely many cards aren't "a character", but… "stuff". The "this cards depicts a character" cards might not be so many… that being said it's a great game so I could buy it anyway.

This is a nice answer, but I don't understand why go all these lengths to calculate some "appropriate" skill-check values, when you can just remove them entirely. As you said, it's about players, not about characters… so just let it, you don't need any skill check, they are stupid.

comment Riding/beating a dead horse
+1 I would like to add, that even if he was fused with the horse, he would likely tire anyway, just a little bit less. Unless he himself was undead, but then it would be a moot point.

comment Why should I worry about non-violent humans?
This answer completely glisses over the CORE of this question! "Class features that are entirely combat-focused will become useless except as prerequisites, class features that are partly combat-ish and partly non-combat-ish will become less desirable"
