Pre-modern farming: What percent of the population is in agriculture? It is worth pointing out that the two top voted answers have radically different figures: 21:80 vs 10:1 |

How can I cut short a doomed fight? @Eugene: if they are so immature, the campaign is doomed anyway. |

How can GMs evoke the tone of danger in an RPG? Music adds atmosphere, and the right atmosphere enhances any given sensation that is already present. So, while it helps, it is not a solution. |

A campaign based on a novel: Let the plot deviate or make the PCs' thread unrelated? Remember that what works in a story, doesn't necessarily work in an RPG. RPG settings must have a very strong internal coherence, which is too often overlooked in many stories. For instance, in The Game of Thrones half of the characters behave like completely dumb idiots: if they really were so stupid, their nation would have likely crumbled a lot of time ago. |

As a GM, how does one deal with all of the players playing nearly identical characters? On the other end, it should be them that should search for an NPC they need to do something sometimes, with all that implies (find it, try to understand if he's really able, try to understand if he's a madman or a possible traitor, etc.). In no case this NPC should last much more than a single event, or he'd fall under the "lame" case detailed just above. |

Can party betrayal be done successfully? Nothing personal, but this narration is a little confused... |

Can party betrayal be done successfully? Not exciting to me, sorry. Looks very forced... "I work hard to make you trust me just to be able to poison you to sacrifice you later" is kind of "meh" plot IMHO. |

How do I get better at narrating/storytelling as a GM? (this does not address your problem directly) Have you considered finding a co-GM: you write the story, he directs the game? I.e. you are the strategic guy and you need to find a tactics one. In-game you could direct the rules / world physics, while he would play the NPCs and give the descriptions. |

Weapon that does 5 damage vs. one that does 1d10 damage: What characteristic of the weapons causes this difference? And what does this have to do with the question? Ok, at least some randomness, fine. The point of the question was what should be used to decide how much randomness to put into a damage roll. |

What would be a good randomiser to use for a game in the dark? While this could work in general, it would kind of ruin a Cthulhu game, which is what they are playing. |

How do I build a sense of wonder in my games? Yes, internal coherence is one of the most important things in every setting, be it an rpg, a book, a movie or whatever. |

Non-heroic Post-apocalyptic systems I meant the 4ed-based one, assuming the feel of the game was the same for all editions - is it not? |

Playing on IRC, getting started @michael: I've not tried other real-time online environments. I've tried forum-rpg instead and that can go pretty well if you took good care into designing it, though it calls for a very different approach to the game. |

What are some proven methods of generating attachment to locations/objects in a campaign? Excellent advice! |
