House Rules for AD&D Character Generation (1e+) @MadHatter - sorry, didn't notice your question. I'm definitely in favour of the "heroes not super heroes" mantra. I hate the idea of overpowered characters but do think the average for a PC should probably be slightly higher than average for the wider population if that makes sense? So I'm in favour of 17, 16, 15, 12, 10, 8 type spreads of ability scores, against 18, 17, 16, 16, 13, 10. |

House Rules for AD&D Character Generation (1e+) I quite like the idea of improving ability scores though I'm not sure that at the frequencies you're suggesting it wouldn't overpower characters relatively quickly. Similarly HP - I can see that you want to avoid very weak characters but other than saying reroll ones (just once, roll a one again and live with it), I'd personally stick close(r) to the rules as written. |

House Rules for AD&D Character Generation (1e+) Each to their own but I'd say if you're only spending 10 minutes generating a character, you're missing out on a load of fun - generating characters is interesting and, for me at least, a great part of the game in it's own right. |

Do you get a save vs Falling Damage? And I guess the 3 in 6 is a guide for a typical pit which the PM can adjust based on specific circumstances. |

Is it possible to turn Tenser's Floating Disk into a chariot? But how do you tether the "plate" to the chariot? I think the word disk is misleading, it seems the correct way to think about it more like an electro-magnetic field which creates a disk like area rather than as a physical object. |

Good Single Word Instruction for “Command” Spell Re. sleep - sleep is both a noun and a very and does work (again, expressly stated in the PHB). |

Good Single Word Instruction for “Command” Spell @AceCalhoon - suicide is not a verb. It's not to suicide, it's to commit suicide. Commit is the verb, suicide is a noun. As it goes the PHB specifically mentions that suicide won't work for this reason. |

How do you calculate THAC0? @SevenSidedDie - Have been asked by the DM to do so to speed things up. Does the concept not work with 1e? Flicking through the DMG the principal of the die roll changing by one with each drop in AC of one seems to hold so the principal should work shouldn't it? |

Good Single Word Instruction for “Command” Spell In terms of the duration I guess the thing is to try and find something which has consequences lasting longer than the round... |
