I've been playing RPGs since the late 70s when I started with Holmes Basic and first edition Gamma World.

What would be some good monsters for Planet of the Apes D&D? That works for TSR versions as well, which with Ape as Class this is designed for. |

How can I make BRP less variable? Aramis, are you saying you gave up on BRP because of dick GMs? Why not give up on dick GMs instead? |

How can I make BRP less variable? Well, taking that here's a "complex" model. At 30% Driving you can drive to someplace you know where it is without hitting Grandma without bothering to roll (if you're hitting grandma 7 out of 10 trips to the store why aren't you in jail), you can climb the climbing wall at the gym regularly without injury, and for Reading Latin if you can sit down with a dictionary and the text with no time pressure you'll eventually read it. I'm confused how this requires a complex mental model. If you're worried about "can a Unix admin recover lost files in a VMS system in 30 seconds" then I'd get it. |

Using 2x on d12 instead of x on a d6 in OD&D/Classic D&D/Clones @Iszi: BECMI = Basic/Expert/Companion/Masters/Immortal...the Mentzer boxed sets (and more or less the Rules Cyclopedia). |

What are the consequences of changing the ratio of XP to GP? Okay, I had used 'fast' meaning relative to level. Historically a medieval baron treated the costs of things like armor as highly important. While I don't want to simulate that it is troubling to me that before they're halfway to name level these costs are meaningless. I have updated my question to better explain what I meant by fast. |

Using 2x on d12 instead of x on a d6 in OD&D/Classic D&D/Clones Good point that the majority of these rolls are hidden. As for spells you could define the spell as giving you a roll of twice normal minus one on a D12 (for thrice minus one on a D20). |

Using 2x on d12 instead of x on a d6 in OD&D/Classic D&D/Clones I was thinking the d12 as I could just double the numbers and have the finer grain for defining unique monsters, traps, ect. But, it's true that most of the changes on 3x, round nearest, for a d20 aren't really that meaningful. |
