I’m a thirtysomething dad and IT professional living in the Austin, TX area. I started gaming way back in the day, 1982, with the TSR space opera game Star Frontiers. Since then I've been an avid roleplayer. I went to 5 Gen Cons, was a regional Triad for the RPGA's Living Greyhawk campaign, helped start a gaming club (the FORGE) in Memphis, TN, et cetera.

I GM and play a variety of RPGs; currently Pathfinder is in heavy rotation as well as various non-D&D-based games.

comment Why are Dragons “Always X” alignment?
@Charles that Gold dragons are Asiatic, or the entire answer? I was responding to the answer not GMJoe's comment. If the latter, providing references would help improve this answer.

Can you narrow this down so there might be a "correct" answer? Seems like this is more brainstorming.

comment How do I stop my PCs from acting like insomniac monkeys on crack?
So all this is interesting, though I'm not sure that it actually addresses my core question. Note it's not 100% about buy/sell and it's about the high pressure trying to make everything happen immediately even in the middle of the night when "things take time." I do incorporate the buy/sell into the roleplay, which doesn't seem to be helping.

comment European Medieval Fantasy RPG with less bookkeeping?
So now that you've removed all about Maid, this is too broad. "Like D&D but more rules light than Pathfinder or D&D 3.5/4e" describes a hundred games easily. Like rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/15410/… or rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/10222/…. And the same answers are appearing to it as every other [game-recommendation][fantasy] question. You could possibly get it on topic by saying more of what kind of play experience you want out of it.

They can even wear pants, if pressed.

-1 This isn't answering the question posed. He clearly says that different approaches to the game are fine but this is his experience and the goal he intends.

comment How do you help players not focus on the rules?
Yeah - this isn't 100% on point for this one though, as it's not that they 'don't roleplay,' but that when they are engaged with the system they expect extensive rule mastery and RAW to happen even if it's nonsensical. It's less a problem with RP and more with Rule 0.
