I’m a thirtysomething dad and IT professional living in the Austin, TX area. I started gaming way back in the day, 1982, with the TSR space opera game Star Frontiers. Since then I've been an avid roleplayer. I went to 5 Gen Cons, was a regional Triad for the RPGA's Living Greyhawk campaign, helped start a gaming club (the FORGE) in Memphis, TN, et cetera.

I GM and play a variety of RPGs; currently Pathfinder is in heavy rotation as well as various non-D&D-based games.

comment What is a “trad game”?
I'm sure someone somewhere (the FORGE?) uses it pejoratively, the rest of us grudgingly use it to qualify discussion common to most RPGs but not the fringe-where-anything-could-be-different RPGs. It's hard having "system-agnostic" discussions nowadays because there's some indie system somewhere that stands any assumption on its head, and there's arguments when you say "mainstream" or "most" - so "traditional" works.

comment Any advice on a good Respawn system for pathfinder
Hey guys- in my personal opinion this is a terrible idea too. But he's not asking if, but how. Keep answers on topic, and frankly I'd reccommend NOT expanding on the question to turn this into an opinion fest on whether this is against most people's play style. If you haven't run Pathfinder with respawn then move along, that's answer enough.

To have this question not be too open ended, answerers should use Good Subjective, Bad Subjective critera. We do not want your random opinions, that's not what RPG.SE is for - please cite real systems for this you've used or seen used.

As a bonus, here's an unpublished Ecology of the Gray Render article that was going to go into Dragon Magazine but ended up never going in: enworld.org/forum/…

@Zachiel I think the 10 other answers that ignore his actual question to give him that advice have it covered.

Closing this mainly because the answers all suck and this is a decent question that, perhaps asked again, might garner answers.

The question you are asking is technically a duplicate of rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/18619/… but you should probably start with this instead: rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/4457/…
