I’m a thirtysomething dad and IT professional living in the Austin, TX area. I started gaming way back in the day, 1982, with the TSR space opera game Star Frontiers. Since then I've been an avid roleplayer. I went to 5 Gen Cons, was a regional Triad for the RPGA's Living Greyhawk campaign, helped start a gaming club (the FORGE) in Memphis, TN, et cetera.

I GM and play a variety of RPGs; currently Pathfinder is in heavy rotation as well as various non-D&D-based games.

comment Whats currently a good game to start on?
While I tend to agree this isn't a complete duplicate, it's not defined well enough to reopen. Since most RPGs are accessible to most teens, this will become "everyone says their favorite game." More criteria are thus required. I see "fantasy" in the comments, that helps, but please expand more on the attributes of a game you'd like recommended.

Hey man, please consider starting to use paragraph breaks and such - I basically get a headache and stop reading your answers partway through.

comment Are there any RPGs that a first grade reader can read and learn?
And he says "reads at a 1-2 grade level." You can certainly play a guided game with kids at this level, but "read on his own and learn to play," the answer is no and all the other answers are mixes of wishful thinking and suggestions for games appropriate for reading levels 5+ grades higher.

It's not provable that something doesn't change for imaginary reasons, it has to be proven that it does.
