I’m a thirtysomething dad and IT professional living in the Austin, TX area. I started gaming way back in the day, 1982, with the TSR space opera game Star Frontiers. Since then I've been an avid roleplayer. I went to 5 Gen Cons, was a regional Triad for the RPGA's Living Greyhawk campaign, helped start a gaming club (the FORGE) in Memphis, TN, et cetera.

I GM and play a variety of RPGs; currently Pathfinder is in heavy rotation as well as various non-D&D-based games.

I guess I didn't police this much, but is there a reason we shouldn't merge this with the possible duplicate I linked?

comment Is Energy Drain a full round action?
That's a good catch on the vamp (another reason the questioner should ask their actual question and not a generalized question). Do be careful though, d20srd is NOT Pathfinder. The right link on the pfsrd is d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/undead/vampire and sure enough it has the once per round clause. But most monsters just have energy drain per the standard ability which doesn't limit to 1/round: d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/rules-for-monsters/… - wights, spectres, etc.

Then don't answer please. Not trying to be mean, but we only allow system-rec questions because we have tight rules on them that make them not turn into junk.

You should probably ask about the monster you're concerned about instead of "in general..."

Hey, please read our guidance on system-rec questions. So that they don't just degenerate into people pushing their favorite system all the time (Bad Subjective), we require answers to have experience with doing what it is the question's asking. "I'm sure system X would be great" is therefore not a legit answer; "I have used or seen system X used to do it" is.

People don't like answers that challenge their dearly held ideas about how the world should work with information about how the world does work...
