I’m a thirtysomething dad and IT professional living in the Austin, TX area. I started gaming way back in the day, 1982, with the TSR space opera game Star Frontiers. Since then I've been an avid roleplayer. I went to 5 Gen Cons, was a regional Triad for the RPGA's Living Greyhawk campaign, helped start a gaming club (the FORGE) in Memphis, TN, et cetera.

I GM and play a variety of RPGs; currently Pathfinder is in heavy rotation as well as various non-D&D-based games.

Uh, thanks for fixin ghte Q SSD but the new title is pretty bad though - he's not talking about them ignoring plots in the Q just that they have a lot of divergent ones. Edited...

Yeah, I think this duplicates the second question @OpaCitiZen links.

comment How to get players to care about their and each others characters and play them like they are actual people
-1 people have conducted real in-character roleplay in fantasy settings for the last 40 years or so, "You don't" is provably incorrect. Without "railroading them" as the only alternative.

comment Do you remember what happened during Dominate Person?
Eh. A valid opinion; that way I see a lengthy debate over which exact parts of the brain must be affected and the difference between actions and mental actions and is forgetting a physical act or not... Seems unnecessarily complex.

It is a "mind-affecting" spell...

comment Does making an animal more intelligent automatically make them a magical beast
Yeah really, if a person loses enough INT to go to 2 do they become an animal and have their HD change? That's pretty silly. "No because it's completely unsupported by the rules that it would be the case."
