I’m a thirtysomething dad and IT professional living in the Austin, TX area. I started gaming way back in the day, 1982, with the TSR space opera game Star Frontiers. Since then I've been an avid roleplayer. I went to 5 Gen Cons, was a regional Triad for the RPGA's Living Greyhawk campaign, helped start a gaming club (the FORGE) in Memphis, TN, et cetera.
I GM and play a variety of RPGs; currently Pathfinder is in heavy rotation as well as various non-D&D-based games.

How can I motivate my fellow players? The first part at least tries to address players influencing player, but the second is cut and paste GM advice. |

How can I motivate my fellow players? Yes, he's saying he'd like to influence the other players... So how? |

How can I motivate my fellow players? And how do you establish this as a player and not as the GM? |

How can I motivate my fellow players? And so how do you as a player get the other players to do that? |

What alternatives are there to replace orcs, kobolds, and hobgoblins in low-level encounters? Do note that an answer that just has a couple monster names is not really a good answer to this question. Answer with techniques. |

How can I motivate my fellow players? Most of the answers so far are more things a GM would do and are retreads from various other questions already on the site - where's the advice on how a player can influence the other players? |

Is it common to wear costumes when (tabletop) roleplaying? Yeah, I've never been in a group that wore costumes while tabletop gaming, even those who also LARPed and had costumes. |

Can the GM give control over a support NPC to the players? Agree, this is a better system-agnostic question - there's little meaningful difference in "does the GM let the players also run NPCs sometimes" from game to game. |

How do I read these attacks? Hey @John - we kinda frown on asking questions that are basic "in the book" questions here. I'm glad ObliviousSage helped you out but before flooding the site with too many questions you may want to get more comfortable with the game rules as printed and then ask. It's why your questions aren't getting many upvotes, read the hover-over on the vote up to see the criteria - "This question shows research effort; it is useful and clear." |

What RPG systems are Designed for a “Traditional” Call of Cthulhu Scenario OK, so now this isn't a duplicate. Is it, however, a "practical, answerable question based on actual problems that you face"? I know we have a contest on but I don't want to see a lot of seeded questions garnering trivia for its own sake. Why do you need this, what end is it serving? |
