comment What are the Twitter Buffs for D&D Encounters, and how do they work?
One warning: While the Twitter buffs can be fun to include, they do include penalties as well as bonuses--so a player may be unhappy to find that the 'buff' is an effect that makes them have to make Acrobatics checks to move more than 4 spaces. Likewise, some of the buffs may be encounter-breaking, such as buffs that make all enemies give combat advantage--in a party with any number of rogues, that can invalidate the challenge. Keep this in mind before including them. -- DM for Season 3, DnD Encounters, who used Twitter buffs for 2 chapters, then stopped. ;)

comment How to be a Centaur PC?
As the DM referenced by the OP, this would probably be the option I would be most comfortable including in my campaign.

comment How do you know if two monsters can move at the same time in DnD4e?
Just on the point of the PC question--the PCs /can/ do that, in fact. If they're willing to delay or ready actions, they can all go on the same initiative. Usually it's more effective to stay near where you currently are in initiative, to get attacks off before certain monsters, but a clumped initiative party can do just the same as monsters when it comes to positioning and then attacking via readied actions. One other key--because this uses readied actions, anything that prevents the second character/monster from getting into position...prevents the action unless another takes its place.

comment Do you factor in advantage dice when deciding who goes on the owe list?
Thanks for the suggestion to contact Vincent--I ended up getting in contact with him, and it helped lead to the answer I put below.

comment Anyone have write-ups (or alternatives) for “missing” skills in D&D 4E?
WotC themselves noted that one of their upcoming books will include optional systems to add into games, including adding profession and craft skills. Of course, it's not that useful to have it 'coming' for a year of play or so, but they see the utility of adding them back in as an option as well.

comment Where can I find a place to play?
@Numenetics: This season is a bad example, if you're only going off of Dark Sun--they didn't think about newer players, and focused on giving a challenge...which stomped even some skilled players. If you've only played this season, I strongly suggest trying next season, when they bring out DnD Essentials.

comment Where can I find a place to play?
@Numenetics: If you've got a game that's open, it's an excellent way to allow new players to see things in action--and perhaps pop in without having to actively try to break into the hobby. That's the advantage with any public play, whether in a store, or at the library--you help evangelize the hobby, to some degree. It's part of what keeps me running DnD Encounters at my store--to keep an outlet open for new players to pop in.

The blog there on D&D Boss Fights is excellent, and some of those ideas sound just like what I'm looking for. Thanks a lot.

comment How should a GM deal with sexuality in an RPG?
I don't think sex has a place at the table. It tends to mess up the map, make all the other players uncomfortable...oh, you mean roleplaying it out. Right right, carry on!
