My first language is German. I started playing with Das Schwarze Auge. As a referee I'm lazy and prefer to do things just-in-time. My preferred system right now is Labyrinth Lord, but most of my campaigns still use other systems: D&D 3.5, Pathfinder RPG, Diaspora, Song of Ice and Fire, and there's also a "learn new systems" group I'm in.
I have a blog.

Using the iPad as a GM-tool Apparently my usage of printed books relies on little details like useful info being on the pages around the current page and my ability to quickly scan backwards and forwards, and on leaving books open where I last used them without intending to come back (and setting no bookmark), essentialy substituting as automatic bookmarks. On the iPad these little details require a tiny bit of attention and time. Somehow it just didn't work for me. All the little details built up too much friction. |

Suggestions for a Mountain Witch follow-up? Wow, this report is awesome. |

What defines the “old school renaissance”? Well, at the time there was Dungeon and Dragon magazine. The barrier to entry seemed incredibly high. Even Kobold Quarterly had wonderful art. But Fight On! Magazine had stuff that seemed doable. It had maps that I could have done. I felt that this magazine was made by people like me. Ordinary folks. |

Are there any good tabletop RPGs for young beginning players? I felt picking abilities was a tricky thing since I would have to read them to the kids and have them make choices. |

Where can I find other RPG players? Nearby Gamers also has a nice tag system in place. |

Where can I find other RPG players? My only problem with meetup.com is the cost associated with running a group. :( |

What tools are useful to organize a GM's campaign notes? I find that a wikimcan work if he players find their XP in the (very short) session reports. If the players don't put in more effort, then that's the only kind of age they'll find on the wiki. |

How do you maintain a balance between mystery and offering clues? It sounds like a cool idea but requires improv skills by the GM and a bit more suspension of disbelief by the players. |

How to handle a rule-lawyer player? Ouch, that seems to be a social disaster at the table in the making. How did the player react? I think I'd tske offense at being thusly schooled at a gaming table. Maybe back when we were all 15 or 16 years old. But now? |
