Who created the idea of Experience Points? Deeply impressed by how far this has gone. While the theories I was just throwing out there were more 2-cent opinions (sorry person-who-I-think-is-a-Mod), it's downright exhilarating to see someone else with better researching skills has hammered down the Merit Badges/Origin of Numeric Grades Hypothesi (Not a real word). Praising aside, I'm now diving into the Roman Catholic Church's "Treasury of Merit" as an XP origin. While its use varies, the idea that X deeds = Sainthood or at the least release from Negative Levels of Sin, seems interesting. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treasury_of_Merit |

Who created the idea of Experience Points? ...Continued because the Auto-Submit-Enter Button Tomfoolery cut me off when I wanted a new paragraph....As for a source concerning the College Credit to XP theory...sadly no. I'm failing to find a source documenting an origin of placing a numeric value on educational courses. I do, weirdly, keep stumbling upon the Boy Scouts & the Order of the Golden Dawn/etc ranking system and how Certain tasks had to be done before one leveled up in the organization. Which is, as stated, weird. |

Who created the idea of Experience Points? The funny thing is that perhaps it's my cynicism but I'm not sure which refers to XP & which refers to marks when you talk about the difference between "a flat recognition of achievement" and "a currency of achievement." Look forward to that paper. |
