comment How to handle a rules-lawyer player?
The throwing stuff is just an anecdote, not a solution (that's how I read this answer). It's about F-U-N that should depend on a GM not some books

It's almost unrelated, but didn't you get the impression that the whole Stargate SG1 looked like it was based on some heroic-s-f campaign? ;)

comment Tricks allowing continuous narration during a fight
BTW. From Your experience - is it possible to trigger some adrenaline with narration when there's the rolling? I never managed to make it dynamic enough, because I had to wait too long.

comment What are some sources for in game puzzles for players?
It was too long ago for me to dig it out. (2002yr I guess) Just get creative and see what comes out. Remember to do a mind-experiment "would I figure it out if I was the player" and remember to prepare at least two correct solutions. If there's only one - players will always ignore it or decide it won't work before trying :)

That's a step in the good direction. Try doing a really dynamic and fast narration. I often describe a fight so fast that the players hardly manage to react on time. If they hesitate - I pass the hasitation through to the character. It gives us all such an adrenaline rush while fighting or escaping! If Your players don't love the numbers too much You have to try it!

GMs have parents :P If You're from another continent - then it's out of budget, but in Europe it's sometimes cheaper to go on vacation abroad. And there'sInternet :P
