I've been playing tabletop RPGs since the early '80s, mostly as a GM. Currently I'm running a Star Wars: Age of Rebellion campaign.

I also run:

Does the supplement answer your question, but in a less than satisfactory way?

It looks like someone at Catalyst reads RPG Stack Exchange. They've just released Coyotes, a 5th edition sourcebook that covers border crossings: rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/123829

comment How do I play NPC abilities?
Regarding the Ames example: Wouldn't level 5 at numenera knowledge just mean that he knows more about numenera than he does about other things? My read is that his knowledge would be orthogonal to whether he dispenses it or not. I'd think getting him to part with specific knowledge would be an Intellect roll.

comment Commissioning Art for Games
Agreed. People sometimes treat Creative Commons as something distinct from the copyright regime, forgetting that CC relies on copyright. Without copyright there could be no Creative Commons licensing, because it would be unclear who had the legal standing to license the specific rights covered under a Creative Commons license. So the business requirements when commissioning art are similar for closed and CC-licensed collective works. You want to be sure you control the rights, regardless of whether you keep them proprietary or assign them using a permissive license.

I suspect that Posthuman does it this way specifically so they can put the entire game under CC licensing with assurance. Adam Jury just made a comment on a Fate Core Google+ page about the Fate Core conversion kit (in development) for EP being possible only because Fate Core is available under a compatible CC license

You way want to talk to the folks at Posthuman Studios. Eclipse Phase is distributed under a CC-BY-NC-SA 3.0 license, and they spell out how the license applies to the art in the books.

Kyle, Learn Tabletop RPGs is my site. I have been working on a few things that aren't in the site yet and would be interested in helping however I can with your project. Please feel free to drop me a note if you like. My email is shown on a persistent footer on the site.

I may just have to start playing Pathfinder again just so I can play a Paladin. I'm that inspired by this answer.

comment How to convey the tone of Shadowrun
@OpaCitiZen The bit about most things being ersatz (an inferior substitute for the real thing) at the lower end of the pecking order is a stock element of cyberpunk fiction, reinforcing the notion that the "haves" get all the good stuff and the "have nots" get the dregs. Soy has such a great "this is not the real thing!" ring to it because so many faux meat products are made from it, but the ersatz product could be made in some other fashion.

I updated the answer to make it even more clear that this likely only applies to the 2050 setting.

Clarified that it's likely only useful if running a 2050-era campaign
