How do you calculate damage for MM1 and MM2 monsters? There doesn't seem to be any more answers coming, so I think this one is my favourite. I particularly like how the Suite Alternative offers different damage expressions for the same average damage (for example 4d4+11 and 3d8+8), where the other tables only had one expression per level. The Suite table allows for die rolls that 'feel' more like the weapon being used (like d12s for greataxes). I can't find anything in the rules that supports Oblivious' claim that HP should be cut in half, though. The damage seems to be buffed but the hp stays more or less the same. |

How do you calculate damage for MM1 and MM2 monsters? I don't know, I chose a Githyanki Mindslicer (level 13 artillery) from MM1 and tried to convert it, following the steps in your first link. The calculated HP pool was EXACTLY the same, but the damage from a standard ranged attack went from 2d8+3 to 3d6+11. |

How do you calculate damage for MM1 and MM2 monsters? Divide the HP by 2? Really? That seems like a LOT! So if it's 2d8+4, it's 4d8+8? Does it change crit damage too, like a Yuan-ti Malison Sharp-eye's Scimitar? 2d8+12 -> 4d8+24 |
