I he's the type who doesn't like to read much, I'd recommend watching some Let's Plays of Dungeon World. This series is pretty good&fun: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-oTJHKXHicRNYOc9unj3D1GMzjz_i6V2

comment What should a PC expect when having an encounter with higher level monster?
@Realdeo Monster Vault is another 4E book, an updated Monster Manual. No 4E resources are legally available for free, as far as I know.

@Realdeo When rolling for a weapon attack, you add several modifiers to get your attack bonus. For a ranger, he should get a basic +3 from his dex stat and at least another +2 from proficiency for using a bow. If he's the closest player to his target, the Prime Shot class feature gives him another +1 and if he's taken an expertise feat (which he should, asap) he gets another +1.

comment How Powerful is a Swordmage's Swordbond?
I would add that a magic weapon breaking happens SO rarely, that I'd find it reasonable and balanced for the player to break off a piece so he can recreate it later. Only mundane weapons ever really "break", though. Most players have a magic weapon after level ~2. Of course, if the magic weapon is ever disenchanted, so are all fragments.

comment How does resist all apply to an attack that deals two types of (non-combined) damage?
Quick question for clarification: are you treating damage rolls with different damage type modifiers (1d6 fire damage + 1d6 radiant damage) the same as damage rolls with different damage types (1d6 radiant and fire damage)?

comment Where can I find actual play examples of skill challenges?
This question doesn't really have a definitive answer, since it basically asks for a list of references. As such, it should probably be closed or reworded.

comment How do you measure time in Dungeons and Dragons 4th ed?
@UnknownGnome No, tabletop roleplaying usually doesn't run in real time. I honestly cannot tell if you're joking or not. If this wasn't what you were asking, I strongly recommend following Brian and Jonathan's advice and providing a bit more information and context in your question.

Did they think the entire group had to take their full combat turns in 6 seconds as well?

@Chad - Sarcasm? I thought that was legitimately a great idea!

comment How do players acquire weapons in DnD 4e?
I would probably add that no group that has ritual casting really buys magic items after heroic tier.

I know it's 4E, but the answers here could warrant a look: rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/8407/…

comment I play a level 11 dwarf fighter in DnD 4e, is there any kind of loophole that would stop me from aging?
Why would Bloodknight prevent you from aging? I don't think there's anything in the official content that could help you here, except a few epic destinies, only one of which you'd even qualify for. Unless you'd like to petrified forever? :)

comment How do Saving Throw bonuses interact with multiple effect conditions?
I take it that this also applies to stuff that lets you roll a saving throw against a particular effect, e.g. Superior Will when you're Dazed&Weakened (save ends both).

That house rule sounds like a lot of book keeping.

comment Is extra damage from free actions maximized with a critial hit?
@Leotalus That message directly contradicts the sources Simon Withers and SevenSidedDie provided. It probably warrants a follow-up, but until further elaboration I'd trust verified addresses from an official FAQ and Mike Mearls over one unverified email from an unknown employee.

comment Does Superior Will work on Unnatural Vitality?
@waxeagle According to the guide, "you are only dazed when you are "subject to the dying condition"." The way I saw it, you're subject to the dying condition as long as you're below 0hp.

I guess you're right. Having read a four page discussion (with no real conclusion) on the issue, I assumed it would be more controversial.

@Ryno Exactly, it's also why minions never become bloodied.
