comment My DM is my roommate and not a good DM… help?
Good spot that it sounds like it was being run like a computer RPG.

More like make up stories together and stay in character whilst doing it. I guess the key is staying in character. You don't need the GM to listen but if they are a good GM they can pick up what's going on and riff on it. Our GM lead a whole subplot to subvert our blood/drug business.

comment How can I roleplay The Comedian from Watchmen?
I've no problem with the description, "a pathological liar who lacks remorse, is manipulative and superficially charming, and who fails to take responsibility for his actions". Perfect case study for building a Comedian character.

@KorvinStarmast Thanks, little rushed with little sleep, glad the meaning came across.

Brilliant, my other sources have said much the same. Enjoy the bounty, don't spend it all at once.

@KRyan could you add 'con-x' as a synonym to the 'conspiracy-x' tag? It is a very common abbreviation.

revised What should I keep in mind when running a game intended to subvert the players' expectations?
Improving the answer, not changing what was said, just saying it better.
