I live in Lymington, Hampshire, and work in the Law Courts, which may have made my English slightly pedantic. I realize that Americans and other ex-colonials labour under a disadvantage, and regard it as an holy duty to assist them in speaking (and thinking) clearly.

@mxyzplk: Killing Orcs is not murder; it may be destroying vicious predators who threaten the existence of humanity (as in LOTR) or attacking intelligent neighbours who have a different shape and colour. If the GM doesn't make the situation clear, the players will make their own assumptions.

comment Can I use Run in an area where there is no straight path available?
Maybe you're focussing too much on the word run as in run away. If it were called Sprint, nothing would change, but you wouldn't assume the only alternative is "normally walking away".

+1 for the last paragraph; but you need to distinguish between What do I know about this? which should probably be rolled in secret to allow for the possibility of misinformation as well as/instead of the real facts, and Do I know...[the name of the most powerful wizard in town] which works better as an open check made by the player. I think this choice depends more on the group than the system.

I still don't understand "penalty against his Wealth by Level". Are you suggesting reducing the treasure given to the entire party to compensate for a gain by two characters? Or encouraging (or forcing) the PCs to agree to an unequal division until the inequality caused by the template is 'rectified'? Either seems fraught with problems.

comment How do I encourage a GM to use the rules as written?
But in OPs example, it doesn't suit "the table", it suits the DM.
