A Canadian geek, finishing off a chemistry degree. I typically hang around TeX.SX as I like the community and learn things by reading the questions. I'm also active on RPG.SX and History.SX.

comment What is the advantage of casting the cantrip “light” on an object an enemy is wearing or holding?
@kravaros My understanding is that has been debated since my Dad was playing Basic D&D, and thus depends on the latest edition of D&D, if there has been errata and whatnot.

Not just in the dark: Sneaking rogues, creatures that keep turning invisible, snipers...

comment How rare are these miniature AD&D books?
As a warning, the few times I've browsed Noble Knight I've noticed a definite premium on the items there compared to when I've seen them in gaming stores, on Amazon or similar. That said, often it is the only place to get some stuff. So take it with a grain of salt, and pick a few items on Noble Knight and compare them to eBay, Amazon, etc before pricing your own item.

I'm not sure where you are getting your information on the Dragonborn from. They are a 4e race that is just a true-breeding race like elf or dwarf, at least in 4th edition. I never heard of them before that. Also, there was the Dragon Disciple class that eventually had you transform into a Half-Dragon, so turning into one certainly isn't impossible.

comment How can we compensate for a Warforged's lack of healing?
Even if your wizard doesn't want to turn into a cleric, 1st level wands are cheap and easily purchasable in Eberron, and 750 gp for 50 charges of healing isn't a bad purchase. Heck, the Warforged can buy it and give it to the wizard. When I was playing Living Greyhawk (Convention play, so new party each session) each player had typically had their own, and the cleric won't up with 6+ happy sticks and coloured string on them... some CLW, some Lesser Vigor, I even had some Faith Healing ones, though I never used those.

comment How is Paranoia - High Programmer different in play from Paranoia - Troubleshooter?
@GMJoe Yeah, looking over it again it isn't a great answer. It establishes they are different product lines, but nothing else. The development blog might have more. Also: My answer hasn't been accepted, so hopefully a better one will come along.

+8? How did I get +8? Oh, one upvote and one downvote. If whomever downvotes this sees this comment, could you let me know what you don't like about my post and how I could do better next time?

comment How can I safely represent non-combat fire magic?
I know movie sets make very realistic fire using a special, thin cloth, a lightbulb and a fan; I saw a prop like this at the big prop exhibit after the first LotR movie came out. I'm not sure how hard it would be to build something like this, but it gives you another option if you wanted to make a brazier type thing.
