A Canadian geek, finishing off a chemistry degree. I typically hang around TeX.SX as I like the community and learn things by reading the questions. I'm also active on RPG.SX and History.SX.

How can I make BRP less variable? @mxyzplk The problem is you've given us examples which aren't supported by the BRP rules, and barely supported by the Call of Cthulhu rules. While the rules don't mention exactly what happens on a failed check, they do have a disastrous failure at 100. You've given us a disastrous failure on 61. A failed drive roll means that you fail to win the car chase, not that you die in a fireball. |

What is this mature RPG System I saw online a few years ago? Ok, I was not expecting to get a nice question with this one. I guess detail is king. |

What is this mature RPG System I saw online a few years ago? That is it. Glad I included that last point; that only came to me as I was writing the first two points. I've also confirmed that this is the right game: ua.johntynes.com/content_comments.php?id=974_0_3_0_C4 is the second story. I got a number of the details wrong, but the right general idea. It was by reptile2k1, a fan I guess. |

How do I keep NPCs from just sounding the alarm? Hah, nice. I'll have to use that one, and make sure that the party overhears it. |

Is there a way to give animals fine manipulators at low level? I...what? Why on earth did you make a crafter with no fine manipulators when you rolled up the character? |

Is there one type of combat system considered to be more deadly than other alternatives? @ErikSchmidt Right you are: Heroquest is a boardgame sitting in my cupboard. I've fixed that mistake. |

Is there one type of combat system considered to be more deadly than other alternatives? Actually I find fast systems = more lethal: Combat in say, Call of Cthulhu is way more lethal then say, 3e through 4e D&D, and is also far faster. GURPS combat is way more crunchy then D&D, but you only get a couple shots before you kneel over. |
