A Canadian geek, finishing off a chemistry degree. I typically hang around TeX.SX as I like the community and learn things by reading the questions. I'm also active on RPG.SX and History.SX.

Pre-modern farming: What percent of the population is in agriculture? Found a book |

What game systems have a large number of adventures available for them? Eh, I'm not a great improve DM. I prefer to have some sort of outline, then fill in the rest as I go. My 2nd favourite response to my DMing was when a player read the adventure I'd run for him and respond that he hadn't realized how much of it I'd been making up. However I still like having a template, plotline and stats ready to go. Just like a 2-3 page thing like most of the ones in the CoC core rulebook. |

Pre-modern farming: What percent of the population is in agriculture? If you want a biased, but interesting perspective on that period among the Germanic tribes have a look at Taticus's Germania. It was a Roman historian's views of the culture and he includes bits on their farming abilities, though not numbers. |

How can Rogues maintain combat advantage? All the really effective rogues I've seen have focused on flanking like crazy, often working with a specific partner to do so, sometimes another rogue so they can both use lots of move into position powers to keep the flank-lock. |

Why do published adventures seem to have gone out of fashion, and who is still publishing 'adventures'? @Mark Booth: You mentioned your players are deadset against D&D: Might I ask why? Is it they don't like the Fantasy setting --In which case they might like Eberron even though it is D&D, but would not like Dungeonslayers-- or don't like the name --Bad associations or experiences perhaps?-- In which case Pazio's Pathfinder might work, even though it is D&D with the serial numbers filed off. Or don' they like the rules, in which case you should avoid all the Pathfinder suggestions, since it is 3.5, sans serial numbers, plus improvements. |
