comment Clocking the round. Tools?
Damn right hour glasses are the way to go! Scared the crap out of Dorothy while she was in the Wicked Witch's tower, and it can do the same for your players.

comment How can DMs effectively telegraph specific dangers in D&D?
This is less helpful when you consider the edit, but depending on the group you could still end up with solid strategic play.

What do you mean by "explode"?

comment The half-elf: is it balanced?
I don't remember about feats ("human feats"?) but I recall that they had "elven blood" and were considered elves for the purposes of magical effects and weapons, or something along those lines.

comment Are fantasy RPG races racial/cultural analogues to reality?
I'm voting to close as I'm concerned this can just result in argument over stereotypes about real cultures and fanatic interpretation of non-real culture.

comment Alternatives to Familiars in DnD 3.X
+1 That's not a bad idea, since the player often forgets about the benefits the familiar offers just as much as the familiar itself.

comment Beyond hit points: injury in D&D
@yhw42 - You can make tables with patience and the "Code Sample" button. As I understand it that's the officialish policy on tables-in-answers for Stack Exchange sites.

comment Dice Notation - Dice that start at 0
@yhw42 - ... but the same can be said of automatic failure. And the probabilities are also a bell curve; you have almost a 10% chance of rolling a 10, around a 9% chance of rolling 9 or 11... so if your check would succeed on a 10, you're looking at almost a 60% chance of success. So in the end you succeed at your trained skills etc more often and fail at other things you're not trained in more often.

This is very comfortable for the Americans who would say "three-zee-eight" but for non-Americans "three-zed-eight" doesn't flow as nicely ;)

I like the answer, but dice notation is to be read by normal people, not computers nor software developers. Using the set syntax... you might as well write it out in words! :P
