comment How do I role-play as a dragon?
See also: rpg.stackexchange.com/questions/44746/… which, though related to D&D 3.5 specifically, still has content in its answers that are relevant to this question.

comment How do I fix this plot hole?
+1 solely for the second paragraph. :-)

comment Can I multi-class between a class and an archetype of that class?
The DM already said that I couldn't swap it. However, one of the Polearm Master abilities, Sweeping Fend, is nearly useless as written. I'll see if I can swap that one out for Armor Training 1 instead.

comment How can I convert monsters from 4e back to 3.5?
A Pathfinder stat block is going to look pretty similar to a 3.5 stat block.

comment Origin of the word “Soak” for avoiding damage
pwned - I think he means "as a person who is not a non-native English speaker," which is quite a bit more verbose to express.

comment How should I handle nerfing a player for the purposes of game balance?
I am unsure why the destruction of such an artifact could cause him to be luckier, though. Care to elaborate?

I like the direction of this answer. I think I will try a combination of some of the suggestions here for this season and then move towards making him a properly defined enemy if that does not help.

comment How should I handle nerfing a player for the purposes of game balance?
I am thinking that I should force them back into a conflict state, as the "Infection" that he has was not intended to be used by a player in the way he is using it. Then, he would lose the benefit of the part of his template that is the most powerful in combination with others OR he would cement his status as a bad guy. In case it's not clear, I like to have in-game explanations for changes in the meta, even if those changes are negotiated on an out of game level.

comment How should I handle nerfing a player for the purposes of game balance?
That's the main thing. Because of how we stat vs. how some other chapters stat (namely, they don't allow his Infection and they don't allow multiple Alterations), he is nowhere near as powerful in other places as he is at our chapter. That said, the reason he has the Infection is central to a major campaign plot, wherein he was, for a time, undercover among the PCs and leaking information to the bad guys. Now that he's no longer undercover, he is still leaking information to them. He just managed to convince the PCs that they're not bad guys.

He has, however, been agreeable to certain types/degrees of nerfing - so long as it does not defeat the purpose of his character concept.

Asking him to leave isn't an option as he is a Chapter Owner. He is not interested in a permanent Plot or NPC position, but I have considered making his character a local NPC. The main issue with making him an NPC is that NERO characters are able to travel to other chapters(which he does, frequently), and as an NPC (unless I pulled some shenanigans) he would lose that ability.

+1 for "Adjust your encounters."

comment Warrior with two long swords. Penalties?
You could also add in "Weapon Focus (Long Sword)" for a further +1 attack bonus to both hands.

comment Balancing players' rolls, not characters
The dice aren't necessarily biased. Khaal could also be rolling in a way that causes his dice to be lower more often than not.

I found a related product online (discontinued, apparently?) that could be used for this purpose. dicecards.com/bits Playing cards where each of the cards has a d4 - d20 on it, as well as other random elements. Only 40 of the cards have a d20: you could keep any number of those (3 perhaps) and use those to trigger the reshuffle.

@AdamDray - Not if the DM specifically rules that you can't kill anyone with the attack, they won't.

comment What campaign wiki - or other collaborative tool - has these features?
@Cthos - I checked out Aviary and it does not seem like it has the features we need for image editing. I have not yet looked at Obsidian Portal in any depth.

I have not, but I will check out both of those.

comment What are the most popular/well known larp systems that meet our requirements?
The Accelerant System has been lauded as being very good at both being immersive and as having a small rules set (that still grants plot an world-builders a LOT of freedom). If I recall correctly, the rules themselves take up less than 40 pages.

comment What collaborative mapping software would meet my needs?
Ah - that is how our detailed maps (dungeons, cities, etc) are handled, but not the main campaign map. Optimally I'd like the campaign map to be able to be simultaneously edited by multiple people, and for the editor to recognize those changes and push them to all editors. That way we could, for example, edit it while chatting on Skype. I don't want to use git for version control as 3/5 of my plot team members would most likely not be able to use it.
