Right.. but that phrase is either fluff (because it's not saying anything that isn't already true about wild-shape-absorbed armor), or it's significant (because it's explicitly stated when otherwise unnecessary). That's where the potential disagreement lies which inspired this question.

One could theoretically also interpret the additional phrase "the armor cannot be seen" as implying that the armor has a physical-yet-invisible presence which would mean that its other properties apply. This is really the root of the question.

Not sure why the downvote on my answer, though :( This is a legitimate thing I would consider suggesting to my player in this situation.

If the character is amongst Elves (or people who are familiar with Elves), he's going to have a hard time fully faking it. Detect Magic will easily call out his hat, and all they have to do is cast a simple Sleep spell to show he's not an Elf. It depends on how hard he's really trying to fool people.

comment What is the motivation for a druid to go adventuring
Another example: in my current campaign, I'm playing a Dwarf Druid. She was sick of living in the caves and wanted to get out into the world and experience nature. Basically becoming a big hippie. Adventurer first, Druid second. (Yet she still swings a mean heavy pick :) )

Given my own suspicion of it just being a lazily-written error in an example, I would go with "Xd6/2" which is consistent with "save for half damage" rolls. If nobody has a definitive answer that is what I will do.
