comment Any house-rule for buying negative qualities after character creation?
It took me a LONG time to understand you meant "a house rule to buy negative qualities during game"

comment Legend of the Five Rings Jiujitsu Alternate Rules
The way I see it, the rationale behind "Jiujitsu is the punching skill" is that 1) Most RPGs have/need a punhcing skill and 2) The authors wanted to "Japanese-fluff" it. Your ideas are fine, but 1) you will still need an "unarmed fight" skill and 2) adding so many different unarmed skills put a strong emphasis on martial arts. You might be better off having a generic unarmed skill, and an advantage "Martials arts" giving bonuses fo each one. On another hand, as it is now, this question might be too broad for this site, and turn more into a discussion. We cannot answer this question.

comment How can I invoke actual fear in my players?
Well, after almost one year of experimenting, I would say the point I was trying to make is to use stuff that is not scary because of its stats. If it got stats, you can kill it -> what you can kill is not scary -> if it got stats it's not scary. Bring enemies that are scary because of their social aspects, because they are unseen, because they can reach your family, not because they have a Strength of 42

comment Do level bonuses in D&D 3.5 accurately simulate learning curve with combat skills?
D&D, no matter what edition, doesn't "accurately simulate", and that's not its goal

About the first point: does it also apply if the poisons used are different?

comment If one uses Shadow Evocation on a willing ally can they choose not to disbelieve?
You could argue that when Shadow Evocation is used to cast a (harmless) spell, it gains the (harmless) tag too. But I would still be interested by a RAW answer on that one :)

@KyleWilley I could actually see some funny situations where the skin is healed on top of an open wound, leading to worse complications...

comment Save against a spell thought to be harmless
I think the main issue is to know if forfeiting your save roll on harmless spells is a conscious decision (in which case you can be tricked into doing it) or if you react automatically to hostile/harmless by saving/not saving (in which case the character would automatically save against a Wound spell, even though he thought that's a Cure)
