What are the pitfalls when swapping characters between players? Instead of describing it as "you're confused", why not just go all out and say "The gas caused everyone to swap bodies?" I think that would solve the problems described below of players taking risks or using magical items with other people's characters- they would be handled in character, and comedically so! ("Xanthor, don't eat so much, it'll go right to my thighs!") |

How to deal with players who like to use the local authorities to solve their problems One other suggestion about getting the guards' help- in the first encounter, have several of the guards (who are probably weaker than the party) die bravely. Perhaps the authorities still support his quest, but the bard may begin to feel guilty about endangering weaker soldiers as part of his mission, and factor that in. If such missions continue, perhaps the local guard union gets upset... |

How to deal with players who like to use the local authorities to solve their problems I'm a little surprised that a bard would so quickly run to the authorities. Most bards I've heard of have a healthy distrust of authority- being nonlawful traveling musicians, bards are basically the medieval equivalent of hippies. |

Sword-and-board balance in D&D One benefit of shields is that they can have a magic bonus that stacks (a +1 shield and +1 armor is considerably cheaper than +2 armor). |

What is the best way to compose/express a resurrection wish in D&D? @user867: "I wish he was alive again," would, of course, work only if you have his corpse. Don't do it if he's been buried! |

Domains for a Sorcerer with Domain Access Why would a Sorcerer want the War or Metal domains? |

How can gambling work in a world where magical divination is possible? Mordenkainen's private sanctum would also mean that anyone looking into the area from outside "sees only a dark, foggy mass." That would put a damper on your average gladitorial match. And if the audience is included in the private sanctum, I think they would still be able to use divinations (it can't penetrate from outside, but the spell doesn't say anything about divination spells cast within the sanctum fizzling) |

How can gambling work in a world where magical divination is possible? Of course, having an AMZ in a gladitorial arena would be pretty unfair to any battling spellcasters :) but otherwise I see the appeal |

How can gambling work in a world where magical divination is possible? While this is in a homemade universe, I think the same problem and solutions would apply to any setting (unless you can think of a counterexample) |
