I played a lot of rpg in teens, mostly AD&D for fantasy, but also Call of C'Thulhu and Cyberpunk for those other settings. I lived kindof remote, so all we played was homebrew, didn't get our hands on any published adventures. I've got a lovely wife and we sit at home a lot in the evenings because we've got kids. Would love to get back into roleplaying, but lack a group for the moment, so we'll try Pathfinder (Christmas gift) as one-on-one evening fun.

How to I create material (on the fly) to support plot changes? I'm accepting this answer as it comments on all my questions and indicates how to deal with the situation: 1. Prepare 2. If not prepared take a pause or I guess guide player attention to something else. Good tip to keep all old material to reuse or have as a guidance. +1 Thanks to @skyburner for good tips on how to gather material and to buy more time for finding details (more research needed). |

Suggested house-rules for Pathfinder one-on-one storytelling ouch ... I thought lots of players had ran good one-on-one campaigns also with Pathfinders, I know we did some intense and interesting ones back in the ad&d days. <br/>thanks for the tips for FATE rules, I will look the ones you mentioned up and see how I can use them in PF. |

Suggested house-rules for Pathfinder one-on-one storytelling Thanks. I guess I'm also interested in house-rules/mechanics that will help steer the Pathfinder system away from encounter/booty style playing and more into storytelling. Like for instance if anyone had success tweaking the xp-system so that your character will develop, but not necessarily gain levels all the time? (just one idea - like the bonus-dice mechanics used in some social rpgs). For safety I'm having my wife play a druid and her animal companion will have some extraordinary heal proficiencies etc. I was also thinking that maybe even "nature" (forests, etc) could play a role here? |

Suggested house-rules for Pathfinder one-on-one storytelling I found Lord Vreegs answers to these questions link and link interesting about matching ruleset and game. As I am stuck with Pathfinder, I would like to have some suggestions as how to tune this system to our needs. Cheers. |
