I just noticed that the one profile copies to each site. I will have to start adding reference to each of the StackExchange sites to seem a bit more multidimensional.

superuser: I got an Apple IIe at about 10 years of age. I became a computer gamer. Then you needed to know how to wiggle, jiggle, manipulate, and navigate all around a computer (at least software side) to get it to do what you wanted. I was motivated to learn and worked long and hard at it. Now, like many of you I am sure, I am the the go-to guy when it comes to fixing, tweaking, or simply using the potential of friends and neighbors computers.

Role-Playing Games: GMed on and off over the years. Mostly off for the past 10 years or so. Starting things back up. Have started to formalize my last campaign in a wiki and am resurrecting it as I type! Thus I am here to seek the insight and experiences of others.

wiki.enclaverpg.org is my campaign site forum.enclaverpg.org is my attempt at moving some of the play and day to day routines onto the web

comment Can a Magic User cast 'Illusion Disguise' on someone even though they don't agree with it
Would the target necessarily be aware of the spell cast in your world? That would be an important data point as to whether the target 'should' be able to resist.

Coming at this about a year later and rereading all I realize 2 things. First, I have not played in way too long. Second, I need to evaluate the harm that may befall a character that undertakes this strategy and just how often that harm is likely to occur. GURPS is generally a more fatal and less-forgiving system. I'll let it play out over the next several sessions if I can get my players back together.

We are moving from a 3rd edition D&D background. The campaign is well off the ground. I have found much more freedom as the GM in this campaign than in the last. This has little to do with the gaming system directly and more to do with what I learned in moving to a more ad hoc rule-set. GURPS has honed my skills by forcing me to adopt a new perspective and spend more time on learning what I want and how to build the foundations I need to support myself and those playing with me. Now I just need to find out how to make more gaming time available!

It would seem that in conjunction with the quotations above, the DM should be persuaded to at least separate his/her attack and damage rolls. As he/she is behind a screen, perhaps he/she rolls normally, announces the hit, allows time for reaction, and then reads the damage if no action is taken.

I concede the point of paralysis and have been giving the best leg up I can with some minor templates. Was hoping for a methodology of more a clean break. All the opinions and experiences are what I come here for though. Thank you!

The GCS on hand is how I did one character. It worked well as the player was not dead set on a specific class and just described characteristics to go with. Using lower point (100) characters also made it easy to start, but leave room to customize.
