comment Cursed items are being Identified too easily
@GregoryAvery-Weir And that means you can't have a flawed item that doesn't behave as a traditional cursed item?

Furthermore, a flawed item is not cursed. It took my party a few sessions to figure out that the ring would prod already-hostile monsters into shooting missiles at the wearer and his companions. They quickly suspected a cursed item but it could be removed freely and remove curse had no effect. Meanwhile, every time they passed within 10 range increments of a longbow-armed hunting party they would get this flock of arrows from the sky with no apparent cause.

comment Is falling damage affected by falling speed?
@Flamma The rules don't say how high the trebuchet round goes. I'm giving the formula that tells you at least the minimum value. If the shot isn't at maximum efficiency he would be going faster.

And figure the trebuchet fires the guy upward 1/4 of the range that it was intending to fire him. That's what will happen with a minimum-energy shot.

comment What's a reasonable rule for relaxing item creation feat requirements?
I've seen 10,000gp + 10,000gp per prerequisite. In the cases I've looked at it seemed reasonable.

comment How do I deal with PCs who are evil?
Why would an evil character not want to work with good characters? They're not going to take advantage of him, he can take advantage of them. The question is why a party of good characters would want an evil in their midst.

comment How should I handle a ruling that really hurts my character?
I think you hit the nail on the head here--I rather suspect this is a 2E DM that didn't fully update to the newer rules.

comment Can you ready an action for “immediately before my next turn”?
@DougM The fireball goes off--but uses up the next action in the process.

@waxeagle The systems are not that different.

comment Do projectiles exist in flight?
@Soulrift The projectile isn't teleporting. Just because there's normally no defined instant for when it's 20' away doesn't mean you can't trigger on it.

Why not trigger on <siege projectile comes within 20 feet> or something like that?

comment 3d6 vs a d20: What is the effect of a different probability curve?
@AceCalhoon Yeah, I have always found the D&D skill checks far too variable. I have seriously considered 3d6 or perhaps even 4d6-4 (gives 0-20 instead of 1-20) for non-combat actions.

comment Can you cast dominate person on yourself?
Another thought: When you cast it upon yourself you're basically dividing your mind into a controller and puppet but you still function normally. When someone else casts it on you what do they hit? The controller or the puppet? I would say the controller as it's the easier target. Thus there's no benefit.
