Any answer that doesn't address the history of Christianity and RPGs - Jack Chick's Dark Dungeons, the demon/devil->tanaari/baatezu shift and other milestones in the history of the hobby is, I feel, extremely incomplete. Christian organizations have given explicit reasons for their disapproval, and they should be mentioned in a good answer.
