I'm a game designer that's been playing tabletop games since the early '00s. Most of my experience is with the D&D 3/3.5/Pathfinder ruleset, but I've bee branching out more in the past few years.

@Aaron This may not be the best way of teleporting home, but it certainly is one way of teleporting home. :)

comment How to Avoid Weakness to Cold Iron
Heat and chill metal don't actually harm the weapons. Also, since most weapons will weigh less than 20% of the weight of their wielders, those spells will deal minimum damage, which isn't very much.

comment How far can characters see?
@KRyan That isn't correct. There are two different entries on the Perception table, one for "Notice a visible creature" at DC 0, and a different one for "Notice a creature using Stealth" at "Opposed by Stealth". It still, technically, takes a Perception roll to see something that isn't using stealth, if there are enough penalties involved.

I feel like the last point here is especially important. Even if your finalized design barely looks like Pathfinder at all, it's more important that fun is had.

I'd suggest talking to your GM about allowing you to discharge that spell during a grapple. The idea of discharging a spell like that didn't exist when the PHB was published, and there's already a "Activate a Magic Item" grapple option, which seems very much in the same spirit.

Anklet of Translocation is my personal favorite. It doesn't prevent the grapple in the first place, but it's an instant 'get-out-of-grapple-free card' twice per day. My longest running wizard had several different similar items because of how useful it is to get out of a sticky situation fast.
