Roleplayer, lapsed blogger, and full-time dad.
Started playing with AD&D 1st edition and started GMing with AD&D 2nd edition. Ran D&D 3rd edition, D&D 4th edition briefly, then became a fan of indie games and the OSR. Particularly fond of GMless and short-form games because they fit nicely into a busy schedule, and are very good for enticing non-gamers into the roleplaying hobby.

How do I handle difficulty in Apocalypse World? It's easy to mentally relegate the "advanced" stuff to "not worth thinking too much about" when you're going through the book for the first few times and just trying to get a grip on how to start a game. I forgot the details of it myself and didn't realise how much your solutions matched the book until I re-read it. |

Group Stealth Rolls No problem! Correctness carries the day. My only gripe about the Clint Black answer is that there's no way to obtain that mechanic from the text of SWEX—it's a change, not a clarification. It's a good rule, but I wish it were in the rules-as-written. |

When would PCs choose to walk instead of ride? On a time limit, "riding fast" is always going to be the preferable option, especially if they can (morally, economically) afford to lame or kill the horses by riding them too hard. (This is a comment because it answers the specific circumstance but doesn't answer the more general and interesting question in bold.) |

How to get back into gaming? @Ace The core of traditional games still work that way, yeah. Almost definitionally so. There is way more under the sun these days than traditional task-based systems. |

How to organize my 3.X collection based on WotC's internal numbering system? Perhaps the question should be re-edited once more to say, "Does WotC's product numbering mean anything? Can I organise my collection of d20 books according to it?" which could be easily answered with, "Sort of but not really, and no." |

How to organize my 3.X collection based on WotC's internal numbering system? This question has become plain incoherent: "How can I best organise my collection according to Wizard's non-existent intentions for how the books should be ordered on a shelf, according to this series of numbers which have an entirely different purpose that has nothing to do with shelf order?" It actually qualifies for "Not Constructive" close votes because it can't involve facts or references, only opinion and made-up ideas as to how to connect these unrelated things. "Why did WotC intend all drow to be green?" would be a similarly incoherent question. |

Where do I get inspiration for good scenarios? Alien 3 deserves the criticism it gets. It was so bad because they changed scripts and locations several times, wasting so much money that they had to make the final version on a shoestring budget. What's on-screen is not a multi-million-dollar movie, it's a B movie with a quality CGI crew and big-name cast. |

Can detect magic detect psionic effects? @C. Ross Because you don't have to use "magic-psionics transparency". That's just the default. A GM could, if they wanted, make them opaque to each other, at which point a Psicraft skill is necessary. Besides, I don't think I'd let a psionic character take Spellcraft unless they were also a wizard, regardless of transparency. |

How do I select background music for my fantasy RPG campaign? Dragon Magazine published two articles on soundtracks, giving specific suggestions as well as how to use the music during the game. A resourceful person can probably find copies of Dragon #275 and #355 for the two articles: "The Definitive D&D Soundtrack" and "iDragon: Modern Music in D&D". |

How do I select background music for my fantasy RPG campaign? @wax Actually, I'd make an exception for this suggestion. It's an actual, factual D&D soundtrack. It's less an opinion that "I think this would work!" and more information that "hey, an official soundtrack exists which will work in most fantasy games." |
