Roleplayer, lapsed blogger, and full-time dad.

Started playing with AD&D 1e and GMing with AD&D 2e. Ran D&D 3.x, 4e briefly, then became a fan of indie games and the OSR. Particularly fond of GMless and short-form games because they suit a busy schedule and are good for enticing non-gamers into the hobby.

comment What should a DM do if a player wants to do something impossible?
@LorenPechtel They are actually quite different in ways that are relevant to your answer. Which you might have known if you knew the 4e rules, and why answering without knowing a game is hazardous at best.

comment What should a DM do if a player wants to do something impossible?
A good example for the specific case. But what about the general case the question asks about: players trying to do the impossible?

comment What monsters and races are from the Shadowfell?
@Oxinabox Adding tags just to satisfy personal curation is inappropriate, please don't. You can't prevent all D&D-related questions from appearing in your view of the site. I've replaced those tags with dungeons-and-dragons because the Q is not about 5e or 4e, and at best it's general D&D because Shadowfell is a D&D (sub)setting, though I think the general D&D tag is itself stretching it. For example, if this were a question about using the Shadowfell in (e.g.) Fate, it would not have any D&D tags at all.

revised What monsters and races are from the Shadowfell?
tags are for reflecting the content of the question, not for personal curation control; at best, this takes the general D&D tag, if any, because the Shadowfell is a D&D (sub)setting; the question is not about 4e or 5e

comment How do you actually crawl through a dungeon in online play?
So, just to be clear, your answers is "Don't use Roll20"? Also be aware that asking a question in your answer doesn't work: this isn't a forum, the OP has no way of answering your questions. If that doesn't make any sense, consider taking our tour and seeing how our Q&A site is different from a forum and requires a different kind of post.

comment polymorphing into a stone golem do u get it's cons
This user's last AD&D question was tagged 4e, no idea why, so I'd guess it's the same. Not gonna fix it on that guess though, since stone golems being slowed by lightning isn't something I remember being in the game, and is probably the user's house rule.

comment Can an Elven Wizard use a bow for an arcane focus?
-1 for logic flaw. While an arcane focus staff is already a staff, and hence qualifies as a staff for hitting-people purposes, as confirmed by Mearls, it does not follow that an arcane focus is already a bow and qualifies for shooting-arrows purposes. Thus the precedent is inapplicable and the conclusion is not supported by the line of reasoning. (Outside of perfectly-OK house rules, of course.)

comment Would the alignment of a character with multiple personality disorder change?
@wraith808 The majority of answers seem to me to address both parts; a few don't even address the first. Quite a few of them wouldn't make sense with the "how should I roleplay" part removed.
