comment How are Werewolf traits balanced?
It can do if people really play up the stereotypes but there's a lot of wiggle room in there so long as you don't stray too far.

It's also worth noting that with the renown system a character that is roleplayed away from the core of their breed, auspice and tribe (especially auspice) will suffer as a result. Werewolf society is structure to have certain expectations and they must be met for you to fit in. This means that unless you really do want to play the breed, auspice and tribe you pick then you're probably going to lose any benefit you get from min-maxing for traits.

comment Why does (A)D&D change so much between editions?
It's really a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. Some systems change a lot and others remain closer to the original theme. In essence (A)D&D has never had that strong a theme to anchor it in a given set of rules - no core setting to keep it tied down.

comment Are Hit Points in Dungeon World just a nod to D&D?
@SevenSidedDir laughs Yes, I couldn't agree more. It's a great place to find settings and systems that resonate with how you like to play.

comment Can the GM give control over a support NPC to the players?
Thanks for bringing some different flavours or player-controlled NPC to the table :) (+1'd)

comment What system or sourcebooks should I use to run a pre Roman, Celtic Britain campaign?
It's been a long time but I seem to remember a very enjoyable game for just this sort of setting, using the old RuneQuest ruleset (not sure which edition I'm afraid.

comment Adventures with an allegorical/philosophical flavour
Thanks, I'm fairly sure I have a copy of Burning Wheel on my bookshelf. I'll drag it off and take a look through :)

comment Adventures with an allegorical/philosophical flavour
Thanks - not quite what I'm looking for. Ideally I'm looking for things that are more readily translatable straight into adventures. However, I'll definitely drag out my old WW and CoC stuff to have a look through :)

Thank you - an excellent list. I'll spend a few days working through a number of those :)

Thanks for the response. Ideally I'm looking for a few non-fantasy sources but fantasy sources are useful as well :)

comment How To Divide Up Loot?
#4 is the way I'd go. Have an NPC make it clear that the inequality has been noticed IC and that they consider the magically enhanced guys the lesser for it. If that doesn't shift your PCs to action and they're not pushed to it by finding out they can't take on the challenges then you might as well drop it.

comment How do I deal with these crazy PCs?
Whilst I agree with the general approach here you need to exercise to caution to avoid it coming over as passive-aggressive GMing

comment Making magic “magical”
Thanks. I think you've got some insight there in #2 where you indicate that it really helps to maintain consistency where there's either a single system of magic.

comment Making magic “magical”
Thanks. I think, along with @nvoigt above you've drawn my attention to something that I should have realized about the link between a game system for magic that the players understand and inevitable link to them transferring that to magic being a manifestation of that game system (and thus maths/science rather than magic). Unknown armies seems to work well for this as there's an implicit assumption that the players probably don't know how the system works.

comment Can circumstances change a skill's key ability score?
A difference of 6-7 isn't easily attained in 3.5. It's certainly possible but not easy. However, it's a fair point that stat modifiers can make a reasonable difference at lower levels.

Ah - it may well be. I've only ever skim-read it and that a long while ago...

comment How much does it cost to build or rent a building?
One of the things to consider beyond the raw cost of building something is the cost of obtaining the land and permission to build. This is one of those areas you can exploit to form an adventure hook "Of course you can build on my land. However, I have this little problem..." or use to increase the cost of building in particular areas.

comment Where can I find a non-Lovecraftian medieval religious horror game that will inspire dread in my players?
Might be worth taking a look at the old World of Darkness historical settings as they seem to hit pretty close to the mark you want. In particular Dark Ages Fae or Dark Ages Vampire. Neither are likely to be 100% what you want but they both seem to share a lot of elements of what you are looking for.

comment What skills would a DFRPG PC roll when playing a video game?
I think this is a good approach. If such themes are going to recur in your game often and be important, it might be worth adding some specific skills - given the relatively sensible length of the existing skill list in FATE/DFRPG it's relatively easy to slot more in without making it unwieldy.

comment Running a game with intentionally “over-powered” PCs
I disagree here - I think that skills and powers can be used in all three of the above scenarios but require more thought than doing so in a standard fight. But it does depend a lot on how you set things up and how you run things.
