revised What makes a good pitch for a new game?
Improved formatting and corrected language mistakes (hopefully not adding as many as removing).

comment Where to find an adventure with a crashed spaceship
I get that, but it does not help with questions such as "What useful loot can you find in the lounge room of a space ship?", for example. Even in D&D-medieval setting common scifi tools constitute serious loot. Your approach does not help with them.

Can you point out a specific adventure that would be well suited for such conversion, and that would contain suitable scifi loot or something easy to convert to suitable scifi loot?

Are there mechanical rewards for completing these tasks?

@waxeagle 1. Curiosity. I want to better understand how these rewards influence the experience. 2. Note that I would tie most of them to fiction, in some way. 3. A gesture of gratitude for those who commit to the game and improve the play experience. 4. With some specific behaviour, the reward can give permission for players to do stuff they would not have thought of otherwise. (Give permission in a social sense.)

comment What alternatives are there to replace orcs, kobolds, and hobgoblins in low-level encounters?
@BrianBallsun-Stanton: As user867 said, draw from sources that are not D&D. E.g. poetry such as goblin market, various mythologies and fairy tales.

comment Dealing with a problem player not playing to their character aspects
@Tetra Could you be more specific about the player's responses, and edit it into the main question? In particular, is he reluctant about changing the character, admitting the dissonance between aspects and play, or something else entirely?

@Tetra Does the player realise that the aspects and his gameplay do not match, or does he think they do?
