What happens in adventure locations between adventures? If the problem was trivial, I would have solved it and not asked here. If I rely too much on how I think the factions would act and so on, then I get surprised too rarely and all the factions end up thinking like me. Both are undesirable outcomes. |

What happens in adventure locations between adventures? Thus far I've been keeping track of the interests of factions mentally. I'm seeking something that makes the decision of, say, what faction gains power where or makes a moves somewhere, or where a new faction emerges, more principled or random and less arbitrary. |

What happens in adventure locations between adventures? I feel that random encounter charts do most of that and can be leveraged to do all. They have cross-references to other encounter charts, which provides interaction between territories. |

What happens in adventure locations between adventures? Basically, I'm looking for a method that abstracts the reasons you named story reasons, so that adventure location development has some internal logic that I can focus on if necessary in play, if for example someone starts negotiating with the residents. But I do not want to develop all of that in detail before it becomes relevant. |

What happens in adventure locations between adventures? I'm seeking a method, not so much a name for the philosophy. |

What happens in adventure locations between adventures? @AceCalhoon You may assume D&D-like adventure locations, or discuss more general ones. Whatever you have experience with. |

Acting role vs Player personality @SevenSidedDie I guessed so and consider it a slight pity, since it did not allow me to discover more rpg theory. I will not get involved in defining "academic", and do not use English as a native language, so the precise connotations of the word are lost on me. |

Acting role vs Player personality @SevenSidedDie Can you give some semi-academic or academic citations (e.g. Solmukohta books, international journal of roleplaying) for stance theory, or has it remained restricted to the Forge (diaspora), which I would be uncomfortable calling even semi-academic? |
