May 25	comment	When should I use active defense? I must have misread. My interpretation was always that the Passive was determined by the attack, and Active could be anything reasonable. I can't use Footwork to evade someone when I'm prone, but it makes sense that I can just deftly "dance" around a stab (or the "Parry 9" as we call it in fencing, IE retreating out of attack range), or that the rules disallow parrying an unarmed attack.

May 20	comment	May magic missile be energy substituted If you would kindly edit so I can remove my -1. I had the Crystal Keep Feats up and they say "i.e" for energy types. In multiple online sources it uses that descriptor too, but in Dragon 325 and in Complete Arcana there is no "i.e.", therefore by RAW you're right. However, the core books and D20 SRD recognize sonic as a type. It may be possible that one publication just c/p'd to the other.
May 19	comment	How effective would a mech be in a city environment? Narratively this makes a lot of sense, but a lot of games don't care about collateral damage. Missed attacks mechanically just vanish into mist instead of leveling the structure behind the target. In the 40k games I've played, the terrain was unchanging during the course of the same battle, even with the fury of the Scatter Die.
