I am an avid RP and tabletop gamer, currently designing a tabletop skirmish game of my own. It is a hobby of mine to sit down with a core book for a game and decipher its system.

While part of a large game of AD&D players frequently did this because the core plot didn't leave much room for personal development. However, this made some people feel left out and ignored because they weren't considered for certain things.

"Kick in the Door" play definitely has a place but it seems to conflict with the group overall.

comment How to tell your players about the setting without make them read?
I do this all the time because I often run scenarios (3-4 sessions) to teach people new systems and settings. Especially when they're about to do something so I can commend the action or warn against it (and why)

My only reservation about this answer is if you throw random NPCs at the players, and they don't know how to play, the game is going to break down a lot for reading and questions because they'll likely be playing a new role every scene and thus need to read. A good way to brush them if they don't mind the critical thinking but might confuse them.

To whomever downvoted, could I have a basis as to why so I can improve my answer?

What I quoted is direct from d20 SRD. Will look into RAW.

Unfortunately Animate Dead says "The undead can follow you, or they can remain in an area and attack any creature (or just a specific kind of creature) entering the place.". They would need Command or Control Undead to direct them.
