Glad to be part of the discussion. :)

I've been an on-and-off RPG player for a long time. I played 1st edition D&D with a neighbor when I was a kid, and then multiple distinct D&D games in college. In the last 5 years, I have been part of a steady group that has played D&D 3.5, Vampire Requiem, and now Pathfinder. My favorite part of any RPG is getting a new character started... backstory and all. After that, a well set-up character is definitely easier and more fun to role-play.

The only limit to this spell on the open ocean is the limit of your visual acuity, as the spell description states: "You can see from this vantage as if you were actually there, rotating your viewpoint 360 degrees. You perceive with your normal visual senses." So to determine the level of detail you see or anything unusual you might notice would come down to Perception despite the phenomenal field of view. :)

comment Does the main target of the ghoul touch spell get a saving throw?
It's a touch attack to attempt to apply the spell. Then a fort save to resist - resistance negates the spell effect. Only if the spell is successfully applied will the secondary effect occur, at which point everyone else saves to avoid being sickened.

Exactly. Hit with touch to apply spell, save vs spell effect (fort negates). If spell is applied, secondary effect (sickened) also has a fort save.

So, while I'll freely admit that I think DC +1/10ft is crude and unweildy, it's what is in the book. This translates to a DC +528 at one mile (5280 feet). Of course other modifiers come in to play, like size, color (camouflage -vs- contrast), movement, atmospheric conditions (clear -vs- haze) etc. So you'd see land (very low DC) LONG before a creature on the shore. The final DC is in the GM's hands. The character's perception bonus, even with a Take 20 -vs- the DC still doesn't allow you to SEE to the limits of the spell field of vision.

Functionally, in game, you'd use the hypotenuse of the triangle to calculate the DC for the perception check. At DC + 1/10ft, that adds up fast. Even taking 20 on the check, it gets harder as that distance increases.

The amount of useful detail you could see at that distance (gender, activity, weapons, etc.) would come down to a perception check with DC modifiers for distance and other conditions, certainly color of the clothing could factor in. :)

comment Can you take 10 when creating an item?
I get the impression, after poking around a variety of forums, that the system is designed to make magic item creation easy for those that invest in feats and who have all the prerequisites. It is also apparently designed to make the same items possible but difficult and expensive for others to create.

I would also not be surprised, however, if a GM decided not to allow Take 10 for certain uses, even when a straight read of the rule book doesn't restrict the use. :)

comment Which classes continue to synergize well for a multi-class character?
Note that OP was asking about Pathfinder, not 3.5 or 4e. I agree with your basic points, however: especially not sacrificing caster levels in multiclassing.

One other side note on #2&3: when using a range weapon or casting a spell when you are in melee with an enemy, you will provoke an attack of opportunity. While this is not the penalty originally referenced, it is an important risk to be aware of.

Do you have any limit on acceptable sources, or are you open to all Pathfinder and Pathfinder-compatable sources?

I considered the pros and cons of shifting points around, and I think you're right about the relative merits of the stats, especially considering the upside of my curse. It does restrict my maximum load, and it will decrease my melee functionality, but I agree that int & wis will be more important in my case. Will do either S8 D12 C12 I13 W12 Ch19 -OR- S10 D12 C12 I13 W10 Ch19. I certainly want sense motive & will saves within reason :)

I've updated my proposed starting stats and added a few helpful links. (Many thanks to AceCalhoon for fixing my link embed issue.) :) I'm still interested in any thoughts on Eldritch Heritage... pros and cons. I know the low strength makes some options less functional, but I feel like it could be a useful Feat if I plan it right.

comment How do I respectfully make use of non-Western accents?
Agreed - not all stereotyping is "evil" per se... it's more the caricature that comes with some stereotypes that can tend toward the lack of respect that I presume OP was expressing concern about. That's where listening to real people using real accents to communicate can help to integrate those accents that have typically been presented as a joke in Western media. :)

comment What is the difference between a cleric and an oracle?
The good news here is that, "Upon reaching 4th level, and at every even-numbered oracle level after that (6th, 8th, and so on), an oracle can choose to learn a new spell in place of one she already knows. In effect, the oracle loses the old spell in exchange for the new one. The new spell’s level must be the same as that of the spell being exchanged. An oracle may swap only a single spell at any given level, and must choose whether or not to swap the spell at the same time that she gains new spells known for the level." - Pathfinder APG p.43. So there is some built-in flexibility as you grow.

This is a good thought. Right now, I'm working on evaluating my spell list for touch attacks that I might lose if I drop Str to 10 or less. I'll also have to eliminate bloodline abilities with melee attacks (like claws) or touch attacks when choosing my Eldritch Heritage bloodline, too.
