I've been playing RPGs for about 15 years now and have been a GM off and on for most of that time. I enjoy the RP aspect as much as the hack n' slash aspect. My favourite games to run are Star Wars, Conspiracy X or All Flesh Must be Eaten.
I also enjoy playing video games, camping and spending time with my family.

How can I invoke actual fear in my players? Sounds in the 17 - 19 Hz frequency range are known to cause feelings of unease and can cause the sense that there is something hovering on the edge of your vision. This frequency is below the range of human hearing. You can find free sounds on various websites and if played through a good quality stereo with nice bass can be a way of actually eliciting a reaction from your players. I was able to download one for free from DriveThruRPG at one point. Playing it through my headphones it made me start to get really anxious. You can even play it along side other music so your players don't suspect. |

How do I deal with PCs who use kidnap and torture as an investigative technique? Thanks for the reply. Good point. My problem there is making stuff up on the fly. I'll give it a try though. |

How do I deal with PCs who use kidnap and torture as an investigative technique? It's not so much the act of torture I object to, it's the use of it as the sole investigative technique. It also sometimes sidesteps the info gathering parts of the mission I have planned. I like your idea of adding in useless info. I also like the idea of altering their enemies reactions. Maybe they'll deal with the PCs more brutally next time they meet. |
