@Saffron He changes the archetype and background mostly. For the most part he plays characters who run off and do their own thing and characters who tend to charge in rather than run even when outnumbered. The player also has a habit of getting bored if he relies on the same options or frustrated if he fails too often.

comment What is a good guideline for creating challenging NPCs in Edge of the Empire?
After playing a few session I found this to be the case. Allowing Triumphs or an excess of advantages to end encounters or reach certain objectives quicker seems to be the best way to handle things. Let Criticals happen, make failure and success equally interesting, and use minions liberally.

Gotta admit, that last paragraph is the best way to describe a mission. Thanks for the suggest.

What I decided to do was an Extraction mission to kickstart the campaign. Get a guy out of a place, outdrive the pursuit, and break down the Kink bomb in the guys head to preserve some paydata as a nice bonus. There will be guys for Mr. Shiv to play with of course.

Thanks so much for the general advice of flavor coming after party capabilities. I chose P. Marino's answer because it's a more direct answer, but this is great advice for most campaigns.

Good point, and sorry about not following good practice. The only problem here is that both answers thus far have really good suggestions. If I could combine them...

Since Riggers in 4th edition are a subset of hackers. What could I do to really give each a moment to shine? Or is there a mechanical difference between the two?
